Fredricks Suspended for Palace

Ryan Fredricks is suspended on Boxing Day.
Who will Pellegrini go for to play against Zaha.
Surely not Zabaletta, he got murdered against Williams of Newcastle.
Ben Johnson would be a better but he picked up another injury with the U23's.
Maybe Reid can step up and in.
Bernardo Rosa has also been performing brilliantly at both full back positions again for the U23's. An outside bet.
This could be more crucial than whoever plays in goal.

Agree with master - playing Haller and Antonio together up top was a revelation and it would be madness to change that. Yes, the lack of pace down the right in the Snodgrass/Zabaleta combo is a bit worrying but Antonio up top has to be a priority. This Rossa kid sounds like a prospect so it would be good to see him on the bench and getting a bit of time.

Has to be Zab with Anderson in front of him. Harsh on Snodgrass but he'll obviously get put on at 65 mins. Must maintain the 2 up top, and only drop Antonio to right wing if we're struggling.

It will be Zabaleta with Antonio back on the wing and Zab being under strict instructions not to go over the half way line. Sensible from a defensive point of view but it will also mean Haller up front on his own again with no one within 20 yards of him. So yes, we're fucked.

That is a blow.
I think we’ll be stuck with Zabaleta. I think that can be okay if Zabaleta stays back and does not get caught to far forward and Snodgrass knuts Zaha early in the game.

Rossa has be constantly and consistency good in several different positions.Is very adaptable and dependable.Links well with all the team,has a good engine and has a grat shot on him. He doesn't seemed phased by anything. Was nominated as u23's PL 2 player of the month.
A more positive manager than Pelligrini would use him but I fear he'll just go and use Zabaletta....oh well.

We are limited for replacements but Fredericks is easily our worst player.
Absolutely nicked a living at West Ham.Ive never seen him do anything remotely out of the ordinary.

We dont have wingbacks who have a capacity for fullback duties,
nevertheless i believe that the best way to nullify the threat of Zaha out wide is to pressurise the space by attacking him at speed.

Rossa has definitely gone under the radar.whether it was a masterstroke or luck he has been one of the best performers in the under 23s. I have watched him for 2 years and from a Ok number 10 type player to a right back there has been an amazing transformation.He plays with great determination with no little skill,defends in a very uncompromising manner ,great counter attacker and for a Brazilian very cool headed.I rate him a better player in that position than Johnson

I was musing on the Jan transfer thread that Diop might be a desperate option for midfield alongside Rice but before that he might be better deployed in the rightback slot.
Not much gets past him and he has pace and strength and is generally a bit of an athlete in a team / squad with few athletes.

Zaha vs Zaba fills me with dread.
Even the fact that Zaba has had the better of him in the past just means that Zaha will want to show him up now.
Zabaleta hasn't looked good this season - probably needs to start regularly to be at his best, and his best is no longer good enough for him to start regularly.
If he does start against Palace, there'd better be cover on the bench in case it goes pear-shaped
